Friday night the 8th grade Lady Lionettes took on Faubion MS in the Silver Bracket Championship of the “A” Team Dist. Tournament. It was an exciting two set match but the Faubion Lions came out on top with scores of 22-15 and 26-28. The serving games of Ava Patterson and Sophia Ricci were extremely strong with Ava going on an 8 point serve streak in the first game and Sophia going on a 7 point serve streak in the second game to bring the Lionettes back from 17-24 to 24-24! Kyanna Creecy shut down Faubion’s front row with 9 huge blocks and racked up 4 kills of her own. Holland Hannon and Reagan Brown also had great games with 5 kills each. These ladies fought to the bitter end. We are so proud of their hard work and determination this season and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them next year at the high school level.

Last night the 8th grade Lady Lionettes took on Prosper Reynolds in the first round of the “A” Team Dist. Tournament @ Scott Johnson Middle School and came out on top! It was a hard-fought game with the Lionettes winning in 3 sets with scores of 20-25, 25-17, and 25-18. Holland Hannon had an amazing game with 10 kills and 2 blocks! Finley Turrentine stepped up on the service line to close out last two sets with a total of 9 aces for the night. Maddie Strock killed it on defense with 10 digs and 4 saves. We take on Faubion tomorrow night at 5:00pm for the Silver Bracket Championship. Come on out to Scott Johnson and support!

7th Grade Volleyball
The Blue and White teams for your 7th grade Lionnettes wrapped up their volleyball season this weekend at the district tournament. Both teams made it into the gold bracket and faced Rogers in the quarterfinals.
The blue team started off with high energy and momentum winning the first set 25-23. We started ahead the second set but fell behind at the end losing 23-25. The third set was a tough one and we lost it 25-17. The blue team improved so much this year and we are so proud of them!
The white team started off the tournament with an awesome win against Rogers. The first game was 25-22 and the second was a nail-biter 27-25. The win allowed them to move on to the district championship against a talented Highland Park. The Lionnettes dropped the first set 25-12. We fought back the second set but fell short again 25-16. The white team ended up 2nd overall. Way to go white team!
8th Grade Volleyball
The Blue and White teams for your 8th grade Lionnettes wrapped up their volleyball season this weekend at the district tournament. The Blue team qualified for the tournament in 4th place for the Gold Bracket and the White team qualified in 6th place for the Silver Bracket.
The Blue team started off with high energy in a hard-fought defensive game against Prosper Rogers but came up short in the first set 21-25. Blue just couldn’t get things rolling in the second set and fell hard to the Eagles 5-25. Presleigh Morris stood out from the crowd with 2 aces and 1 kill, and Zoe McKay had 3 aces from the service line. The Blue team finished the season and the tournament in 4th place overall. Great job, Ladies!
The white team started off the tournament with an awesome 2 set win against Scott Johnson. The first game was 25-15 and the second was 25-19. Emma Demouy had 1 block, 1 kill and 4 aces and Maggie Maple had 2 kills. This win allowed the White team to advance on to the Silver Championship against Cockrill. The Lionnettes dropped the first set 15-25. They continued to fight in the second set but fell short again 12-25. The White team ended up the season and tournament in 6th place overall. These girls have grown so much as players. We are super proud of you all!
DMS 7th Grade Lionettes volleyball took on a talented Cockrill middle school and won all three games! CLEAN SWEEP!
The Blue team started off with great energy and effort. We won the first set 25-17 and rallied on to win the next set 25-20. Melanie Cates had 2 AWESOME saves along with her 12 digs to keep us going, and Kathryn Stein had 5 kills. Great job, Blue!
The Gold team came out strong winning the first set 25-9. Kali Vanderhoof had 10 digs and Delaney Meza had an awesome kill to help us win the second set 25-18. Way to go, Gold!
The White team had an amazing start winning the first set 25-19. Angie Larry started us off on the second set with a 12-point service run which led to a 25-8 win. Abbey Rigney had an AMAZING ace and Makenna Faust had 4 kills. Awesome job, White!

The DMS Lady Lionette 8th grade volleyball team took on a well-rounded Cockrill team last night in the final game of the season.
The Blue Team had the only win of the night taking the Cowgirls in two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-21. Landry Hugghins had 6 aces and 2 kills. Zoe McKay had 3 aces and Mallory Hugghins had 4 aces. All of these ladies killed it on the service line and hustled on defense!
The Gold Team fell to the Cowgirls in 2 sets with scores of 17-25 and 17-25. Holland Hannon had 3 aces. Reagan Brown had 1 block and 1 kill, and Sophia Ricci hustled her tail off on defense to keep the ball in play.
White team fought hard but lost in a three-set nail biter with scores of 25-14, 12-25 and 27-29. Maggie Maple had an awesome night with streak of 9 serves in game 3 and 4 kills in game 1. Sophia Sherman had a great night on the service line with 5 aces. Alivia Rowe played fantastic defense on the back row to allow her setters to get to the ball and set up the offense.
The Blue and White teams will compete this Saturday in the district tournament. The Gold team will compete in their district tournament next Thursday and Friday to wrap up the season!

The Blue Team showed a lot of heart but lost in 2 sets with scores of 19-25 and 20-25. Landry Hugghins had 5 kills and Jacqueline Cape had 4 digs and 1 kill from the backrow.
The Gold Team put up a good fight but lost in 2 sets as well with scores of 19-25 and 21-25. Kyanna Creecy had 5 kills, 2 blocks and 1 ace. Reagan Brown had 3 kills and 1 ace.
White team had one of their best games of the year with a two-set win 25-17 and 25-21! Maggie Maple had an awesome night with 3 aces and 1 kill. Quay Mathis also had 6 aces and 1 kill while Grayson Abcarian hustled her tail off and played great defense on backrow. Way to go white team!!!

Dowell’s 7th grade volleyball team took on a talented Evans team last night and came home with two wins and one loss.
Our Blue team started us off with an exciting three set win. We took the first set 25-20 but let them come back to win the second one 19-25. The third set we battled it out and came out on top winning the set 26-24 to give us the victory. Gia Gall had 13 assists and Izzy Adame had 4 digs.
Gold team had a hard night and lost in two sets 25-15 and 25-19. Natalie Ferracioli had 14 digs and Mallory Cormier had 2 kills. Let’s bounce back next week, Gold!
White team had their best game of the year with a two-set win 25-16 and 25-18. Lindsay Heater had 9 digs and Macie Whiddon had 3 kills. Way to go white team!!!

Our Gold team also lost in two 25-23 and 25-20. Kayla Griffith had 13 digs and 6 kills and Chelsea Hollopeter had 4 kills. The girls played aggressive and fought hard.
Our White team lost two tough sets 25-12 and 25-16. Kailey Kackley had 12 digs and Makena Faust had 2 aces. Way to fight white team!

Our White team lost two tough sets 11-25 and 15-25. Emma Demouy had 1 kill and 1 ace while Peyton Miller had a great 7-serve streak late in the second game with 5 aces.
The Lady Lionettes will be HOME next Thursday against Evans Middle School for our annual Pink Out game. Put on your best pink gear and come out and support! There will be a donation box at the gate and all proceeds will benefit The American Cancer Society. One Heart One Team!
This morning our DMS Lady Lionette Volleyball Teams came together to decorate and fill Fall Harvest Boxes benefiting Meals on Wheels of Collin County. Together, they were able to donate 16 boxes to help those in need. We are so incredibly proud of the effort these girls put into giving back to their community.
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played a tough round of games against Rogers Middle School on Thursday, October 4th.
The Blue “B” team lost in 2 with scores of 14-25, and 13-25. Presleigh Morris and Mallory Hugghins had two aces each. Landry Hugghins had 2 kills at the net and Sophie Habrat had two great blocks. Presleigh Morris and Peyton Yon had several defensive digs against the strong Rogers hitters and Zoe McKay showed some amazing hustle and heart on some really tough plays. Way to play hard, Ladies!
The Gold “A” team also had a tough 2 set loss with scores of 20-25 and 16-25. Holland Hannon and Ava Patterson each had two kills at the net. Kyanna Creecy had 2 kills, 3 blocks and 1 aced serve. Maddie Strock did a great job digging hard hits and Sydney Visser showed some amazing hustle sacrificing life and limb to keep the ball in play! This team played with so much heart!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their game in 2 sets. Qua Mathis had 3 great serves and KK Washerlesky had 1 kill. We learned a lot about what it means to be mentally tough during this game. We’ll get them next time!

Our 7th grade Lionettes took on Rogers middle school last night in volleyball. Rogers snuck away with 3 wins, but our girls played so well.
Blue team lost a tough battle in 2 sets with scores of 25-9 and 25-17. Izzy Adame had 6 digs and Afton Christie came out blazing with 3 kills. Way to fight Blue team!
Gold team lost a nail biter in 3 hard fought sets. The first set was so close with a score of 27-25. We came back to win the second set 25-22 but couldn’t close it out in the end losing the third set 25-10. Avery Johnston had 6 kills and 1 block and Kayla Griffith had 33 digs on the back row. Great work Gold team!
Our White team played so close the whole game but ended up losing in 2 sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-20. Avery Barrier had one big block at the net and Abbey Rigney had 2 great passes over the net and one service attempt. Awesome effort White team!
Our next game will be on Thursday, October 11th and we will be traveling to Highland Park. Thank you to everyone who came out to support! One heart, One team!
The Dowell Lady Lionettes 8th grade
The Blue “B” team’s serving game boosted them to the victory with scores of 25-11 and 25-6. Landry Hugghins had 5 aces on the night and Cambri Stone had 2. Landry also had 4 kills and 3 defensive saves to help keep the offense rolling. Peyton Yon had an amazing night on defense with 3 digs and 2 defensive saves. Zoe McKay closed out the second set with a 10-point serving streak that included 4 aces as well. Everyone did a great job communicating and staying focused. Way to go Blue!
The Gold “A” team also dominated the court with scores of 25-12 and 25-6. Sydney Visser had 3 kills and 6 aces while Reagan Brown and Ava Patterson had 4 and 2 kills respectively. Reagan Fene had 4 great defensive saves and 2 hard served aces. Our Middle Blockers had an amazing game last night. Kyanna Creecy had 2 aces, 4 kills and 2 blocks while Holland Hannon had 2 kills, 1 block and an awesome 11 serve run that resulted in 3 aces to finish out the match! Way to finish strong!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team won their game in 2 sets with scores of 25-9 and 25-14. Serving clearly put these ladies over the top of Scott Johnson. Sophia Brown, KK Washerlesky, Sophia Sherman, Qua Mathis and Peyton Miller all went on MAJOR service runs and had 2 Aces each and Hailey Millwee had 4 aces! Way to go ladies!
This was the boost our Lady Lionettes needed going into the second half of district play. Next Thursday, Oct. 4th, we will be in Prosper to face the Lady Eagles of Rogers. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

Blue team came out on fire with Livi Reeves having 2 kills. We won the first set 25-12. The second set Kathryn Stein was a huge serving asset for us with 5 aces. We won the second set 25-9.
Gold team took the momentum and ran with it. Delaney Meza kept the game exciting with 3 kills and we won the first set 25-7. The second set Kali Vanderhoof had 4 assists to help us win 25-11.
White team started strong winning the first game 25-12. Makena Faust had 4 aces and Sophia Reyes had 3 digs. The girls played hard and won the second set 25-16.
Way to go Lionettes! Our next game will be October 4th at home vs. Rogers. See you there!
