8th grade Dowell Middle School v. Evans Middle School – DOWELL SWEEPS!!!
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played Evans Middle School last night and earned their first SWEEP of the season!
The Blue “B” team won in two games with scores of 25-12 and 25-11. Makenzie Coop had a phenomenal night on the service line with 14 straight serves that included 8 aces! Emily Smith also had a great night with 11 serves and 6 aces. Gigi Miller and Kaylin Chapin both dominated at the net with 4 kills each and Ava Montgomery contributed 2 amazing saves to help her team to victory. These ladies played their hearts out and we are so proud of how well they are working together!
The Gold “A” team defeated Evans in two games with scores of 25-15 and 25-14. The Lionette outside hitters had a huge night at the net. Hannah Billiter led the team with 8 solid kills and Sacha Pickett also turned up the heat offensively with 4 kills of her own. Avery Calame and Noel Holzner kept the the Panther defense rocked back on their heels with 5 aces each and played great defensive games on the back row. Keep working hard!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team won in an awesome 3 game set, 14-25, 25-15, and 25-17. Riley Thomason, Allison Lane and Addy Hoggatt led their team to a come back victory with their awesome work at the service line. Allison Lane also had a big night offensively with two blocks and two kills. Sadie Romine and Natalie Burrell contributed to the victory with great jousting skills at the net on tight sets and overpasses from the Panther defense. The rest of the team did a great job hustling to keep the ball in play. Great comeback Ladies! Way to fight and not give up!
The next game is against Cockrill Middle School at McKinney Boyd High School on Thursday, September 28th. Come on out to the big house and support! One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played Evans Middle School on September 21.
The Blue “B” team lost their set in two games, 19-25 and 23-25. Sophia Ricci was the strongest server of the night, earning 8 points for the team including 4 aces! Ava Patterson had 2 ace serves and 5 hits at the net. Jacqueline Cape served 4 points and had great defensive moves in the back row. Nice job!
The Gold “A” team lost to Evans in three games, 12-25 and 25-16 and 14-25. Reagan Brown had 4 solid saves to keep the game going and 6 hits at the net, including 4 kills! Presleigh Morris served 7 points in a row, including 4 aces, to contribute to a strong comeback in the second game. Landry Hugghins stepped up to help her team by playing a new position and did a fantastic job. Sydney Visser was solid all night long with great passes and positive leadership. Great fight!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team finished the night by losing their two games with scores of 17-25 in both games. Cambri Stone had great setting skills and 3 serving points. Montserrat Donadio had two hits at the net and two strong serves. E’Quavia Mathis had 1 hit and 1 kill at the net, and Kathryn Huggins served 2 aces! Great improvement!
The next game is at home on Thursday, September 28 against the Cockrill Cowgirls. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!
