8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams hosted Evans Middle School on September 15th.
The Blue “B” team fought hard but lost in a 3 game upset. Defensive specialist Emily Heisner served up 13 points throughout the night, including 4 aces. Setter Brooklyn McCall also had a great night at the service line with 9 points and 3 aces. Middle Blocker Madison Whiddon lead the team offensively with 4 Kills.
The Gold “A” team looked their best yet defeating Evans 2 games, 25-18 and 25-17. Setter Laura Mullings served 9 points, including 6 aces! Defensive specialists Rylee Hallford and Landry Worsham continued to protect the floor only allowing the Evans defense to earn 9 points agains their back line. Middle Blockers Peyton Smith and Olivia Witte and Right Side Hitter McKenzie Parrish put up a combined 11 monster kills!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team fought their hearts out through three games but came up short with scores of 10-25, 26-24 and 24-26. Libero Lauren Post put up 9 points including 4 aces from the service line. Outside Hitter Avery Boring put up 4 monster kills off of assists from her Middle Blocker Olivia Sherman. Other noteworthy players for the night were Kaitlin Binion and Andrea Ebedor. Keep working hard, Ladies!
Next week’s game is against Cockrill Middle School on September 22th. The 8th grade Lionettes will be playing at McKinney Boyd High School with games starting at 5:00pm. Come on out and pack the stands! One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played against Evans Middle School on September 15, winning 2 of the 3 games for the night.
The Blue “B” team won their set in two exciting games with scores of 25-12 and 25-15. Defensive specialist Allie Zarbaugh served 13 points throughout the night, including 5 aces. Right side hitter Genevieve Miller had 7 strong serves during the games. Outside hitter Mackenzie Coop had 6 serves and an incredible save. Way to play, ladies!

Defensive specialist Macy Parker had 8 amazing passes from the back row and 5 strong serves. Outside hitter Hannah BIlleter had 10 strong passes and 9 hits at the net, including 5 kills. Excellent job ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team worked hard but came up short with scores of 10-25 and 15-25. Izzy Kimbrough had 5 strong passes during the night. Alorah Kovatch had 8 strong passes and 5 serves. Kaylin Chapin had 1 kill at the net and 7 passes to the setter. Keep persevering!
