8th Grade
The 8th Grade Dowell Lionettes Volleyball Teams SWEPT Faubion Middle School on October 12, in an exciting evening of hard played volleyball.
The Blue “B” Team had a great night winning in 2 games, 25-13 and 25-19. Mackenzie Coop went on an amazing 7 serve run, including 5 aces, to close out the first game of the match. Defensive Specialist Balir Dodge also had a great night on the service line with 6 straight serves and 5 defensive digs. Libero Kylie Campbell worked the backcourt like a champ, keeping the ball off the floor and putting it into her setters’ capable hands. What an improvement from last week! These ladies fought hard!
The Gold “A” team had another fantastic win against the cross town Lady Lionettes with scores of 25-17 and 25-12!!! Middle Blocker Avery Calame had an awesome night with 9 straight serves in game 1, 8 monster kills and 4 big blocks. Middle Blocker Kira Thornton also had a big night at the net with 2 kills and 2 blocks. Setter Noel Holzner racked up 7 assists and 3 defensive saves. It was a great game both offensively and defensively. These ladies are now 4-0 in district. Way to work Ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team absolutely ROCKED IT winning in two games, 25-15 and 25-12. Libero Peyton Linders went on an awesome 8 serve run in game 2 that included 2 aces. Offensively, Kathryn Smith, Natalie Burrell and Sadie Romine made some smart decisions, got several tip kills and worked hard to keep the ball in play. Congrats Ladies on a well deserved win!
The next game is at home on Thursday, October 19 against Scott Johnson Middle School. This night will be our annual PINK OUT night. We will be collecting donations for The American Cancer Society at the gate so please come out and support this great cause! One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played a long night of volleyball against Faubion Middle School on October 12, with every match going to three games!
The Blue “B” team fought hard with scores of 25-18, 26-28 and 22-25 but didn’t quite pull out the win. Outstanding offensive player of the game was Ava Patterson, with 4 strong kills and a tip at the net. Tiffany Adams contributed 9 serving points, including 2 ace serves and a back row attack kill. Jacqueline Cape had 3 ace serves and solid passes to the setter all night long. Setters Ella Mauceri and Zoe McKay had many great assists throughout the night. Great improvement to everyone!
The Gold “A” team played three games, winning the first one 25-18 and but sadly losing the last two 15-25 and 21-25. Middle blocker Kyanna Creecy was dominant at the net, with 2 tips, 2 kills, and 1 block. Setter Reagan Brown was also a strong player, with a block, 2 tips, a kill and many assists to front row hitters. Holland Hannon killed the ball 3 times in the front row. Outside hitter Sydney Visser had 2 tips and a kill. Awesome work and fight!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team pulled out their first win of the season! Scores of the close, hard-fought games were 10-25, 25-23 and 26-24. Middle blocker Peyton Miller had a kill and a tip at the net. Kathryn Huggins and E’Quavia Mathis each served 2 aces. Cambri Stone had 3 awesome ace serves and great sets to hitters in the front row. Montserrat Donadio contributed 10 great passes to the setter and 2 ace serves. Congratulations on a hard-fought win!
