8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams took on Faubion Middle School last night and earned their first solid SWEEP of the season!
The Blue “B” team won in a two set match with scores of 25-15 and 25-17. Outside Hitter Megan Hofstetter went on a serving streak doing the fist set and racked up 8 consecutive points. Setter Cora Cao also had a great night at the service line with 4 aces in 10 solid serves. Middle Blocker Anna Price had a big night at the net with 4 kills and zero errors. The team welcomed back setter Isabella Heilman who has been recovering from an injury. She came back strong with 3 aces, 3 saves and 3 assists! Way to go, ladies!
The Gold “A” team took down the cross-town Lionettes in 2 with scores of 25-18 in both sets. Defensive Specialists Rylee Hallford and Olivia Tenney protected the floor with 35 saves combined. Setter Laura Mullings and Outside Hitter Ainsley Spangle dominated the service line with 5 aces each and Right Side Hitter McKenzie Parrish worked the net with 6 kills and 1 big block. Solid showing, ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” dominated Faubion with scores of 25-12 and 25-10! Setter Kinsey Kackley served up 10 points with 7 aces. Defensive Specialist Page Marchino stepped up into the Libero role this week and put up 9 awesome saves and 6 points from the service line. These ladies are working so hard and improving every week! Right Side Hitter Lilian Pierce had a phenomenal night on the front row and put up two great blocks. These girls are KILLING it! The hard work is paying off!
Next up, the Lady Lionettes will take on Scott Johnson Middle School away on October 13th starting at 5:00pm. Come on out and cheer us on to another victory! One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams swept Faubion Middle School on October 6 with three winning games!
The Blue “B” team won their set in two amazing games, 25-18 and 25-10. Outside hitter Mackenzie Coop earned 15 points with her serves. Middle blocker Alyssa West served 11 points, including 7 aces. Setter Britten Larson had 9 strong nets to hitters in the front row and also served 9 points. Great job to the entire team for their hard work!
The Gold “A” team dominated in 2 games with scores of 25-8 and 25-11, keeping their undefeated status. Setters Claire Russell and Noel Holzner were outstanding with a combined 37 sets to strong hitters in the front row. Top server of the night was Avery Calame, serving 14 points and also contributing 8 hits at the net! Another strong server of the night was libero Bella Vaught with 13 serving points and overall great back row play. Great job to the entire team for working together!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team pulled out an awesome win in three hard-fought games with scores of 21-25, 25-16 and 28-26. Top server of the night was Alorah Kovatch with 12 points, including 4 aces. Lacey Hale also contributed 8 points with her serves. Daneyah Green had great overall play, passing the ball 18 times and serving 9 points throughout the night. Wonderful job!
