8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes Eighth Grade volleyball teams played the Highland Park Raiders in Prosper winning 1 and losing 2.
The Blue “B” team loss in three at 25-18, 21-25 and 16-25. Sydney Boddie played well at the net making some aggressive decisions earning 6 points. Macie McCraw played great defense and served well earning 9 points.
The Gold “A” team loss in two, 20-25 and 19-25. Madi Black played a solid defensive game getting 4 big digs. Olivia Tarsi earned 9 points for the night with a combination of kills, aces, tips and blocks. PJ Marano served well earning 4 points with 2 of them aces.
The White “C” team won tonight, 25-20 and 25-23, putting them officially in first place going into the tournament. The entire team played scrappy and kept talking the entire time. They had many saves as a unit and won the game playing as a team. The entire team gets a shout out for being phenomenal.
The Blue and White teams have the B/C tournament this Saturday at Dowell. The tournament starts at 8:00 am with our games TBD depending on the outcome of tonight.
Our next regular game is against Johnson at home with the Blue team game starting at 5:00pm followed by the Gold and then White teams. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played against Highland Park Middle School on October 23. Two of the three squads won their games in an exciting night of volleyball!
The Blue “B” team won their set in three games with scores of 19-25, 25-20, and 25-21. Landry Worsham served 9 points and Cora Cao served 15 points for the team. Middle blocker Anna Price had 5 kills and 2 tips at the net. Madison Whiddon had 5 strong hits at the net and served 11 points. Way to pull out a win!
The Gold “A” team won their set in two great games with scores of 25-13 and 25-22. Janessa Crawford served 11 points and had 5 hits at the net. Megan Hofstetter served 8 points and had 8 hits at the net. Middle blocker Emily Ludtka had a strong block at the net and Peyton Smith had 7 strong hits. Great job ladies! Way to work hard to the last point.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their set in three games with scores of 18-25, 25-14 and 15-25. Emily Heisner served 11 points, 3 excellent saves and 4 hits at the net. Middle blocker Baylee Burgess had 10 hits at the net, including 6 kills. Kaitlin Binion served 10 points and had two hits. Good luck to the Blue and White teams at their tournament this weekend!
