8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes eighth grade volleyball teams played Highland Park Middle School on Thursday, Nov 2nd in their final district game of the season. The Gold "A" team was the only squad to pull out a win, but the Blue and White squads fought hard.
The Blue “B” team lost in 2 games with scores of 14-25 and 15-25. Makenzie Coop played hard both offensively and defensively with one Aced serve, three saves and three kills. Kylie Campbell played a great defensive game with five saves and four perfect passes to setters. These ladies fought hard all season! Good effort girls.
The Gold “A” team took down the Lady Raiders in two games, 25-18 and 25-21. Bella Vaught and Avery Calame both had strong showings on the service line with two aces each. Setters Noel Holzner and Claire Russell did a great job of assisting their hitters with great sets resulting in 22 kills for the offensive line. The back row defense of Macy Parker and Bella Vaught did a great job keeping the Highland Park hits off the floor. These ladies are ready for a rematch with Prosper Rogers on Saturday at the A-Team district tournament! Come out to PSA McKinney and support! Game 1 is at 8:00am!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team hustled their tails off and fought hard in a two game loss 16-25 and 16-25. Lavaro Peyton Linders had 5 solid serves, 1 ace, and 7 perfect passes! Rylie Thomason had two solid serves and a great tip kill in game 2. Kathrine Smith had an awesome kill at the net and Kaylin Perry had 1 block. This team as a whole has improved so much this season. All night they hustled, communicated, and worked as a team. We are so proud of their effort and hard work!

The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played Highland Park Middle School last night in the last games of the season!
The Blue “B” team lost with scores of 22-25 and 10-25. Sophia Ricci had 3 ace serves and solid defensive moves during the game. Tiffany Adams served for 6 points and moved along the back of the court efficiently. Middle blockers Sophie Habrat and Ava Patterson each had 2 kills at the net, and Sophie also contributed a tip. Ella Mauceri had a free ball kill, a tip and hitting kill at the net! Lily Vanderschaaff had strong defensive movement over the court and served for 3 points. Great season ladies!
The Gold “A” team lost with scores of 16-25 and 19-25. Outstanding offensive players of the night were middle blockers Kyanna Creecy with 4 kills, 2 tips and a block at the net and Holland Hannon with 5 kills! Sydney Visser and Regan Fene served 5 points for the team, and Regan had 2 aces! Setter Reagan Brown was a great overall player on the court. Good luck at your tournament this weekend!
