8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams swept Scott Johnson Middle School on October 13th.
The Blue “B” team won their set in 25-9 and 25-16. Top servers for the team were Isabella Hellman, Madison Whiddon and Emily Heisner. Libero Emily Heisner also had a big night on the back row with 4 awesome back row attacks. Great night ladies!
The Gold “A” team came out on top with scores of 25-18 and 25-19. The top servers for the team were Olivia Tenney with 2 aces and Olivia Witte with 4 Aces. Middle hitter Emily Ludtka had 3 kills and one Monster hit back in front of the ten foot line! Right Side Hitter McKenzie Parrish and Outside Hitters Ainsley Spangle and Olivia Witte also had big nights at the net with 3 kills each. Setter Laura Mullings led the team in assists and defensive saves. Congrats on yet another win, ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team dominated SJ with wins of 25-8 and 25-17. Middle Hitter Olivia Sherman had another great night at the net with 4 tips and two kills. Top servers of the team were Setter Kaia Lore with 3 aces, Defensive Specialist Kenzie Kackley with 3 aces, Middle Blocker Olivia Sherman with 4 aces and Libero Paige Marchino with 2 aces. It was a great night on the service line! Setter Kaia Lore also led the team with assists to hitters like Outside Kaitlyn Binion who had 4 great hits at the net. Way to improve every week, ladies! This is one proud coach!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played against Johnson Middle School on October 13 and won two out of the three games during the evening.
The Blue “B” team won their set in three hard fought games with scores of 23-25, 25-21 and 25-21. Top servers for the team were Mackenzie Coop and Rylie Hostetter with 11 points each. Middle hitter Alyssa West had 4 solid hits at the net. Setters Britten Larsen, Ella Cantu and Gigi Miller had a combined 40 sets to hitters in the front row. Wonderful work!
The Gold “A” team kept their undefeated status once again, winning with scores of 25-12 and 25-17. Setter Noel Holzner did an outstanding job setting 30 times to hitters in the front row. Top server of the team was Macy Acey Parker with 10 points throughout the night. Middle hitter Avery Calame had 14 strategic hits or tips at the net, including 2 kills and great communication all over the court. Excellent job ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team fought hard and won the first game 25-12, lost the second game 17-25 and unfortunately lost the third tiebreaker game 20-25. Top server of the team was defensive specialist Kylie Campbell with 11 points. Outside hitter Kathryn Smith had two strong hits at the net. Landry Edwards had some excellent saves on the court and aggressive plays at the net. Way to push to the end!
