8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes Eighth Grade volleyball teams played the Reynolds Middle School Eagles in Prosper winning 1 and losing 2.
The Blue “B” team had to fight hard winning in three at 25-23, 18-25, and 25-14. Morgan Appleby and Kayla Minst served well. Madi Bissa showed a lot of hustle and had five kills.
The Gold “A” team played a tough set, but finished with a loss in two, 26-28 and 20-25. Naiela Rios played well earning 3 aces and 3 kills for the night. Olivia Tarsi played a great defensive game covering the court in the back row and putting up a strong block at the net.
The White “C” team started well, played with much effort, but couldn’t pull off the victory and lost their set in three games, 25-20, 19-25, and 20-25. Brooke Meyer served well going on quite the run in the third game. Rose Marie Rensing and Ellie Pickett had 5 kills each and played aggressive defense at the net.
Our next game is against Highland Park at home with the Blue team game starting at 5:00pm followed by the Gold and then White teams. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played against Prosper Middle School on October 15.
The Blue “B” team lost their set in two close games with scores of 24-26 and 18-25. Cora Cao served 12 points and had great sets throughout the night. Outside hitter Madison Whiddon served 10 points and was aggressive at the net. Middle blocker Anna Price had 5 strategic hits at the net. Wonderful work!
The Gold “A” team fought hard in 3 games but lost the first game 18-25, won the second game 25-20 and unfortunately lost the third tiebreaker game 10-25. Setter Lilly Meyer had 11 great hits at the net and wonderful sets to hitters all night long. Rylee Hallford served 10 points and had 4 excellent backrow attacks. Olivia Witte served 10 points and had 9 solid hit from the front row. Great job ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team fought hard but lost in two close games with scores of 21-25 and 23-25. Defensive specialist Amy Gilmore served 10 points and had several excellent saves in the back row during the night. Emily Heisner and Brooklyn McCally each served 7 points. Baylee Burgess had 11 hits from the front row, including 3 kills and 3 tips. Way to push to the end!
