8th Graders
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played away against Rogers Middle School on October 20th.
The Blue “B” squad lost their set in two games with scores of 14-25 and 22-25. Top server of the night was Kaylee Rucker with 6 solid points and 1 ace. Outside Hitter Megan Hofstetter and Middle Blocker Madison Whiddon led the team on the front row with 3 kills each.
The Gold “A” team lost their set in three hard-fought games with scores of 25-16, 25-27 and 18-25. Top servers of the night were Setter Laura Mullings, Outside Hitter Ainsley Spangle and Middle Blocker Peyton Smith with a combined 28 points. Outside Hitter Olivia Witte, Middle Blocker Emily Ludtka and Right-side Hitter McKenzie Parrish had a great night at the net with 4 kills each. Our defense as a whole did a fantastic job adjusting to some big hitters on Rogers side of the net! We will be ready for them next week at the district tournament!
Closing out the evening with a win was the White “C” team! They won their set in two games with scores of 25-11 and 25-17. Top servers of the night were Libero Paige Marchino and Setter Kaia Lore with a combined 28 points. Middle Blocker Olivia Sherman continued to dominate the front row with 3 tip saves, 3 kills and 4 blocks. This team just keeps getting better and better! Good luck to the Blue and White squads at their district tournament this weekend!
The next set is against Highland Park Middle School on October 27th at Dowell, starting at 5:00pm. It’s our last home game of the season as well as parent night. Come out and pack the stands and help cheer the girls on to victory! One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Graders
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played against Rogers Middle School on October 20.
The Blue “B” team lost their set in three games with scores of 8-25, 25-21, and 12-25. Top server of the night was Mackenzie Coop with 10 points. Genevieve Miller also contributed 9 points. Middle hitters Katelyn Walerczyk and Alyssa West each had two strong hits at the net. Solid performance from many of the players on the team!
The Gold “A” team sadly lost their set in two hard-fought games with scores of 16-25 and 24-26. Top server of the night was setter Claire Russell with 9 points. Hitters Avery Calame and Hannah Billeter had great offensive moves, with 16 combined hits including 7 kills. There will be a match-up between these two teams again and Dowell is going to win next time!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their set in three games with scores of 12-25, 29-27 and 12-25. Top server of the night was Daneyah Green with 12 points. Blair Dodge also contributed 9 points and passed the ball 11 times. Middle hitter Kaylin Chapin had two saves and 10 pushes over the net to strategic spots on the court.
