8th Grade
The Dowell 8th grade volleyball teams played against Reynolds Middle School on November 2nd for one final district playoff game. The Lady Eagles just edged out the Lady Lionettes in three, two game, sets.
The Blue “B” team lost their set in two games with scores of 17-25 and 12-25. Brooklyn McCally and Gabby Griffin led the team with two kills each. Setters Isabella Hellman and Cora Cao had two aces behind the service line and did a great job assisting hitters and making defensive saves. These ladies saw a lot of ups and downs throughout the season but fought hard to the end. They have a bright future ahead of them.
The Gold “A” had their best outing yet against the Lady Eagles. Although they lost 13-25 and 25-27, these girls never gave up. Outside hitter Olivia Witte had her best game of the season with 6 big kills and two blocks. She was followed closely by Middle Blocker Peyton Smith who had 5 kills and two blocks. Our defense was outstanding, shutting down two huge hitters on the other side of the net. Ainsley Spangle and Rylee Hallford kept the ball off the floor and had a combined 45 saves! Middle Blocker Emily Ludtka stepped up her service game with 4 great serves and great back row defense to keep the ball in her hands. I am so proud of the tenacity and class these girls showed through this game. They have made this season so much fun and we cannot wait to see the awesome things they accomplish in the future.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team fought hard but lost in two games of 21-25 and 22-25. We cannot say enough about this team as a whole. They have come so incredibly far in their level of skill and play. Defensive Specialist Paige Marchino had and outstanding night with 15 saves, 2 back row kills and 4 hard serves. Lilly Pierce also did her part with 8 saves and two great serves from behind the service line. Kaitlin Binion covered her hitters and blockers and was able to save 7 balls from the floor that turned into awesome point winning plays! Madison Cody and Maddison Blunt hustled on the back row and really stepped up their serve-receive games! These girls set goals and crushed them all season. We are so proud of them!
This season has been phenomenal and we are so proud of all the blood, sweat and tears that these girls have put in since August. We are incredibly excited to see what the future holds for these athletes and feel so blessed to have been a part of their athletic journey. One heart, one team. Such a true statement. Go Lionettes!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played their last game of the season against Rogers Middle School on November 2 for the last final district playoff game.
The Blue “B” team fought hard but came up short and lost their set in three games, 11-25, 25-17 and 13-25. Middle hitter Alyssa West was a strong offensive player with three hits and also contributed 14 serves. Genevieve Miller had two hits and 8 serving points. Sarah Hamilton had 10 solid passes in the back row. Mackenzie Coop served 6 strong points and played well with 15 passes to setters. Excellent job this season to everyone on the team!
The Gold “A” team fought so hard but lost in three games with scores of 25-23, 23-25 and 19-25. Hannah Billeter had 14 strong serves and 11 tough hits at the net, including 6 kills. Avery Calame was a strong offensive player with 18 hits at the net, including 3 kills. Defensive player Macy Parker was amazing on the court with her digs and 21 passes throughout the night. Setters Clarie Russell and Noel Holzner set the ball a combined 78 times and did a great job leading the team. The entire group has had an amazing season and finishes with a second place district record.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their set in two close games, 21-25 and 16-25. Blair Dodge was great on the court with 8 serves, 7 passes and 4 assists. Karaline Kerzie was offensively strong at the net with 6 assists and a strong tip. Libero Alorah Kovatch was a solid, consistent player with 4 serves, 9 passes and 2 assists. Setter Daneyah Green was always a threat on the court and contributed one save, one kill, 10 passes and 11 sets to hitters in the front row. Your coaches are so proud of you all!
The coaches would also like to recognize the amazing managers for this season – Ebony Jernigan, Katie Kutzendorf, Kaydence Tucker, Saydee Gravelle and Faith Figueroa. They all did a fantastic job of assisting the team and you are greatly appreciated for your hard work and dedication!
