Dowell Middle School v. Reynolds Middle School:
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played Prosper Reynolds Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 13th taking 2 out of the 3 matches!
The Blue “B” team won in two games with scores of 25-13 and 25-11. Outstanding servers of the game were Mallory Hugghins and Cambri Stone with 3 Aces each. Landry Hugghins, Kelsey Drake and Sophie Habrat each had 2 kills on offense, and Libero Jacqueline Cape killed it on defense! The Blue squad is 2 for 2 so far this season and will compete this weekend in the MISD Invitational Tournament at Cockrill Middle School.
The Gold “A” team took down Reynolds in two games with scores of 27-25 and 25-21. Maddie Strock, Finley Turrentine and Sydney Visser each had 3 aces from behind the service line, and Reagan Brown also contributed 3 aces accompanied by 4 big kills at the net. Holland Hannon had an amazing game on the net with 4 kills and she and Kyanna Creecy had 2 monster blocks each.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their game in 2 with scores of 18-25 and 23-25! Sophia Sherman, Emma Demouy and Hailey Millwee all contributed 2 aces from behind the service line. Qua Mathis and Millwee each had 2 kills at the net. Defensive Specialist Alivia Rowe had a great night on defense keeping the ball off the floor, and Hailey Millwee and Lindsey O’Harah did an awesome job stepping into their new roles as setters for their team.
Dowell Middle School 7th grade played at Prosper Reynolds Thursday night bringing back one victory and two close losses.
Our Blue team lost in 3 close sets with scores of 25-18, 20-25, and 23-25. Melanie Cates led the back row with 18 digs while Amory Dudek was strong on the service line. Kate Miller added some excitement with 2 BIG blocks! Way to fight Blue Team!
Gold team had a great WIN with scores being 25-7 and 25-12. Mallory Cormier was strong on the front row with 4 kills and Allie Stephenson had a great serving run to help us keep the lead.
White team lost in 3 with scores of 17-25, 26-24, and 21-25. Kailey Kackley led the back row with 16 digs while Macie Whiddon had two kills on the front row. On the service line, Riley Rogers led the team with 14 serves over and in.
7th Grade A Team wins 3rd place in the Gold Bracket.
8th Grade A Team wins Bronze Bracket Consolation Championship.

The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played Cockrill Middle School at McKinney Boyd HS Showcase on Thursday, Sept. 6th taking 2 out of the 3 matches!
The Blue “B” team won in two games with scores of 25-13 and 25-21. Outside Hitter, Presleigh Morris, had a strong night on the service line with 6 hard served aces. Libero Jacqueline Cape and Defensive Specialist Peyton Yon did a great job protecting the floor with several saves and smart plays to keep our offense in the game. The dynamic duo of Landry and Mallory Hugghins did an outstanding capitalized on the plays of their defense and were able to hit some great balls. The team as a whole did an awesome job communicating and moving their feet! We can’t wait to see what this season holds for them!
The Gold “A” team lost in a hard fought 3 set match with scores of 19-25, 26-24 and 14-25. Outside Hitter Sydney Visser lead the team in serving and kills with 4 of each. Defensive Specialist Maddie Strock also had a strong night on the service line, with 10 solid serves throughout the game. Middle Blockers, Kyanna Creecy and Holland Hannon put up a solid performance on the net. Creecy had 4 monster blocks and Holland had two. Setters Alex Heins and Reagan Brown lead the team in assists and Reagan also had 3 kills on offense. These girls worked their tails off but just came up short. They will have another shot at Cockrill at the end of the season and will definitely be ready to bring home the “W”. This weekend they will travel to Frisco for the FISD Invitational Tournament with the fire to win!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team won in their game in 2 with scores of 25-19 and 25-14! Defensive Specialists Grayson Abcarian and Alivia Rowe played outstanding with 5 saves each from the backrow. Middle Blocker Peyton Miller played fantastic front row offense and defense with 3 saves and 2 tip-kills. Emma Demouy, who also had 3 great tip-kills, Hailey Millwee and Qua Mathis all had strong showings at the service line with 4 aces each! This team is really working together well and getting stronger every week! Every single one of them deserve to be highlighted for their effort, communication and AWESOME attitudes!
The next game is at HOME next Thursday, Sept. 13th, against Prosper Reynolds Middle School This should be a great game so we hope to see some fans in the stands! One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!
Dowell Middle School 7th grade volleyball started their season off with 3 hard fought matches against Cockrill ending the day with one win and two losses.
Blue “B” team started off with a thrilling first set. We were able to come back from a 23-19 deficit but ended up falling short 28-26. The girls fought so hard! In the second set Gia Gall was strong on the serving line with a 12-point run allowing us to win 25-13. The third set was had fought with a kill in the middle from Kate Miller, but Cockrill took the game 25-16, winning the match overall.
Gold “A” team came out blazing with three kills on the outside by Kayla Griffith and 6 digs in the backrow by Natalie Ferracioli. Avery Johnston ended the game on a 5-point serving run and we were able to take the first set 25-17. In the second set, we started off with a 4-1 lead allowing us to carry momentum and finish with a 25-20 win against Cockrill. Way to go Gold! This was a great way to get us ready for the “A” team tournament in Frisco this weekend.
White “C” team made us proud with their hard work against Cockrill. The first set was a nail biter 28-30 with Cockrill making the final push for the win. Lindsey Heater started off strong with a 9-point serving run and Riley Rogers kept the game exciting with two kills. The second set we were able to pull ahead early and win 25-20. The third set was a close game ending with Cockrill winning 25-21.
Our girls played hard and we are excited to see how we will progress throughout the season! Our next game will be Thursday, September 13th at Prosper Reynolds.
