8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes 8th Grade Volleyball teams kicked off their 2016 season at Highland Park Middle School on September 8th in an exciting night of volleyball!
The Blue “B” team lost their set in two hard fought games, 22-25 and 13-25. Emily Heisner led the team in serve receive passing with 10 beautiful passes. Madison Widdon had 9 hits, including 5 kills at the net and Cora Cao led the team with 15 strong sets to hitters in the front row. They had a lot of positive things to build on for next week!
The Gold “A” team dominated Highland Park in two games, wining 25-12 and 25-21. Olivia Tenney went on a serving streak earning the team 8 straight points before she was done as well as earning herself 8 kills on the front row. Rylee Halford lead the team in passing with 22 playable passes, while also racking up 4 back row kills . Laura Mullings and Lilly Meyer lead the team in assists with 18 and 14 sets respectively. These ladies did an excellent job communicating and working as a TEAM to get the job done!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team finished the night by losing their two games with scores of 8-25 and 16-25. Lauren Post did a great job on the back row with 20 playable passes to her setters and 3 kills from behind the 10 foot line. Kaia Lore led the team in assists, serves and saves on defense. Avery Boring showed a lot of promise hitting outside earning 3 kills and 3 saves. Keep working hard and improving, ladies!
Next week, September 15th, the Lionettes take on the Evans Panthers at Dowell. Games start at 5:00pm. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played Highland Park Middle School on September 8 in an exciting night of volleyball!
The Blue “B” team lost their set in two games, 11-25 and 13-25. Rylie Hostetter served 5 points and had 20 playable passes throughout the night. Alyssa West had 4 hits, including 2 kills at the net. Britten Larson had 3 serves and 7 strong sets to hitters in the front row. Keep working hard!
The Gold “A” team crushed Highland Park in two games, winning 25-7 and 25-9. Bella Vaught served 11 times, including 4 aces and perfectly passed the ball to the setter 8 times. Claire Russell served 6 points, had 11 passes and made 3 amazing saves. Avery Calame served 7 points, passed 10 times and had 11 strong hits at the net. Excellent job ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team finished the night by losing their two games with scores of 14-25 and 16-25. Daneyah Green had 5 strong passes on defense. Alorah Kovatch served 5 points, including 2 aces and 5 passes to the setter. Kaylin Chapin served 3 strong points, had an amazing save and a strong tip over the net in the front row. Keep improving and stay strong!
