Dowell Lionettes 7th grade volleyball had a 3 team sweep against Faubion middle school last night.
Blue team started off strong with a 3-set win. Savanna Luther had 3 kills on the front row and Gia Gall had 3 assists.
Gold team carried through another 3-set win. Madison Berryman had 14 digs and Chelsea Hollopeter had 3 kills.
White team came out fighting with a 2-set win. Angelina Larry had some tough serves for us and ended up with 7 aces. Gabriella Wisetsarakool hustled on the back row and helped the team adding 2 digs.
Way to go Lionettes! Our next 7th grade game is Thursday, September 27th back at home against Johnson. See you there!
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played a tough round of games against Faubion Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 20th.
The Blue “B” team lost in a hard-fought 3 set match with scores of 12-25, 25-14 and 22-25. Mallory Hugghins dominated at the service line once again with a 6-point serving streak in games 2 AND 3, racking up 4 aces along the way. Landry Hugghins and Zoe McKay also had 2 aces each throughout the night. Kelsey Drake and Montserrat Donadio made several smart moves defensively to keep the ball in play. Although they didn’t come away with the “W” our Blue squad showed a lot of heart!
The Gold “A” team also had a tough 3 set loss with scores of 17-25, 25-18 and 25-13. Sophia Ricci really stepped up for her team and rocked the service line with an impressive 7 serve streak in game 2 that included 5 aces! Sydney Visser had 4 kills from the front row and Reagan Brown contributed 2 kills at the net and 1 back-row. Way to fight ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their game in 2 sets with scores of 18-25 and 13-25. Hailey Millwee and Qua Mathis each went on a 5-point serving streak in game 1 with 2 aces each. Defensively, Emma Demouy and Alivia Rowe had several great defensive passes while KK Washerlesky had 2 tip kills at the net. We’ll get them next time!
