Dowell Middle School v. Reynolds Middle School:
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played Prosper Reynolds Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 13th taking 2 out of the 3 matches!
The Blue “B” team won in two games with scores of 25-13 and 25-11. Outstanding servers of the game were Mallory Hugghins and Cambri Stone with 3 Aces each. Landry Hugghins, Kelsey Drake and Sophie Habrat each had 2 kills on offense, and Libero Jacqueline Cape killed it on defense! The Blue squad is 2 for 2 so far this season and will compete this weekend in the MISD Invitational Tournament at Cockrill Middle School.
The Gold “A” team took down Reynolds in two games with scores of 27-25 and 25-21. Maddie Strock, Finley Turrentine and Sydney Visser each had 3 aces from behind the service line, and Reagan Brown also contributed 3 aces accompanied by 4 big kills at the net. Holland Hannon had an amazing game on the net with 4 kills and she and Kyanna Creecy had 2 monster blocks each.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their game in 2 with scores of 18-25 and 23-25! Sophia Sherman, Emma Demouy and Hailey Millwee all contributed 2 aces from behind the service line. Qua Mathis and Millwee each had 2 kills at the net. Defensive Specialist Alivia Rowe had a great night on defense keeping the ball off the floor, and Hailey Millwee and Lindsey O’Harah did an awesome job stepping into their new roles as setters for their team.
Dowell Middle School 7th grade played at Prosper Reynolds Thursday night bringing back one victory and two close losses.
Our Blue team lost in 3 close sets with scores of 25-18, 20-25, and 23-25. Melanie Cates led the back row with 18 digs while Amory Dudek was strong on the service line. Kate Miller added some excitement with 2 BIG blocks! Way to fight Blue Team!
Gold team had a great WIN with scores being 25-7 and 25-12. Mallory Cormier was strong on the front row with 4 kills and Allie Stephenson had a great serving run to help us keep the lead.
White team lost in 3 with scores of 17-25, 26-24, and 21-25. Kailey Kackley led the back row with 16 digs while Macie Whiddon had two kills on the front row. On the service line, Riley Rogers led the team with 14 serves over and in.
