Mr. Frank Spina
Greetings Dowell Family!
Welcome to 8th Grade Science. This is my 11th year at Dowell and my 11th year in Public Education. Prior to becoming a teacher I was in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve. I retired from the military in January 2004 after over 20 years of service. Most of my time in the Air Force was spent as an Instructor Pilot. Flying requires a strong science background. I enjoy sharing my experiences with students to motivate them to learn science.
Five years ago I earned my Masters in Educational Administration to help prepare me to eventually become a principal. The problem is, I truly enjoy the day-to-day interactions I have with students in our classroom. I feel very fortunate to have served in the greatest Air Force for the greatest country in the world. I am doubly blessed to serve our community at Dowell Middle School with a dedicated, caring group of teachers, administrators, and staff!

Mrs. Tye Hartman
My name is Tye Hartman. This will be my 8th year teaching in McKinney ISD and my second year at Dowell. I taught for 6 years at Scott Johnson Middle School as an 8th grade science teacher and the last 5 years as team leader. I am active on the curriculum writing team and love contributing to the success of McKinney ISD. I moved to Dowell to be at the same campus my children will attend.
Prior to my teaching career, I was a pharmaceutical representative for 6 years. I loved the science portion of the pharmaceutical industry; however sales was not my passion. I was very fortunate to be able to stay home with my children for a few years. While at home, I came back to my overwhelming passion… education. Growing up, education was always a family focus as my Mom was an elementary school teacher and principal. I spent countless hours at school helping in any way I could. I came to the conclusion that teaching is where my heart was. I went back to school to get my teaching certification and now I can say “I LOVE my job”.
I am so excited to begin this new adventure with your children. I hope to fuel their love of science, support them in their success and encourage them to purse excellence.

Mrs. Alison Bevans
My name is Alison Bevans. This is my 6th year teaching in McKinney ISD and my second year at Dowell. I was at Press Elementary for 4 years teaching math and science in fifth. I wanted to move up to middle school because I love teaching science.
Before I became a teacher, I was a pharmaceutical sales manager and a licensed Professional Sanitarian for the State of Texas. My careers have always revolved around science. My degrees are from the University of North Texas. I have a Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry, and Environmental Science. My bachelor degree is in Biology. I have always had a love of learning when it comes to science. I decided to become a teacher because it allowed me to marry my two loves: science and teaching others.
I am thrilled to be teaching at 8th grade science at Dowell. My goal is to get students excited about science, and to support their foundational understanding of all areas for their future.
