McKinney ISD is now providing 24/7 access to our students and teachers through our new Digital Library.  This Digital Library, maintained by OverDrive, has both audiobooks and eBooks available for our users to download to their computer, smartphone, eBook reader, or mp3 player.  The library collection features content for grades 6-12 and was built by the secondary Library Media Specialist team. 

There are many reasons why our LMS team chose to pursue a district digital library, but the main purpose was to reach our avid readers.  We wanted to make sure they had access to the library in the evenings, over the weekends, during the holidays, and throughout the summers.  Another benefit to having a digital library is the “always available” option for some of the audiobooks.  Many of the required reads for high school have been purchased in the audiobook format and are always available to download.  This is a great option for those students who need the book read to them. 

The Digital Library is linked with our library management system so the login information is the same.  Users are allowed to check out 2 titles at any given time.  Holds can also be placed on items and an email will be sent when they are available to check out.   For a detailed list of policies and procedures and how to start downloading titles to your device, go to the McKinney ISD Digital Library site.
