We have had a GREAT week of Dowell Athletics! Basketball practices going strong and our MISD Basketball Preview now completed, giving coaches and players knowledge of our strengths/areas to work on in practice before the first games on Dec. 2nd / Dec. 4th.
Off season getting started with weightroom/track/indoor workouts to build strength, endurance, quickness, agility and teamwork. Athletes are doing well and building for their future. Bigger, Faster, Stronger!
Our MISD Character Word of the Week has been “Roles”. Coaches visited with athletes about discovering their role on their team. Being the spiritual leader of the team or the refocus leader or performing a specific skill for the team. Accept the role and do it to the very best. Our Athletes of the week are: Kayla Minst, Rebekah Welty, Catie McGill, Chloe Sormunen, Cole Witte, Jared Phelan, Korbin Bell, Jackson Oliver, Robert Stroh.
Basketball Teams will have non-mandatory practices on Nov. 24th / Nov. 28th. Coaches will send out times and more info asap.
McKinney Boyd and McKinney North Varsity Football Teams are still playing. The “Area” Round of the UIL Playoffs. Boyd is at AT&T Cowboys Stadium Saturday 2:00pm game vs. Cedar Hill. North is in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas vs. West Mesquite 4:30pm. The Bands, Cheerleaders, Drill Teams, Flag Corps, Mascots, Student Bodies all going to support their schools, teams, and city. Dowell has former students playing big roles in all of this playoff mania. We wish them the very best!
We want all athletes and their families to have a great fall break. Enjoy time with family and friends. This is a great time of year to reflect and be thankful for all that we have and re-kindle relationships with our young ones. Dowell Coaches are thankful for the dedication, efforts, and spirit of our athletes. Dowell Athletes really ROCK!!!!
GO DOWELL! ! !
