Our 7th and 8th grade boys teams remain undefeated finishing in 1st place with scores of 33 and 41.
Our 7th grade girls finished in 4th with a score of 97 and our 8th grade girls finished in 3rd with a score of 60.
Our top 10 finishers included:

Dowell Football Summary
The 8th grade Dowell Lions played the Prosper Reynolds Eagles at Prosper High School last night. At the end of the night, your Dowell Lions came away with 1 WIN and 1 LOSS!!!
The Blue Teams score was 42 – 16 LOSS. Scoring for the Blue team was Sheldon King with a 2-touchdown night including an 80 yard kickoff return. Peter Broas rounded out the scoring by making 2 of 2 extra points.
The White Team result was a 14 -12. Scoring for them was Matthew McDonnell with 2-touchdown night. Braden Beard was 2 for 2 on extra points. The Defense played an exceptional game shutting out the Eagles late in the game.

Last night the A Team Dowell Lion Boys played the Prosper Reynolds Eagles at Mckinney Boyd High School. The Lions Lost the contest 35 - 6. The eagles would be first to strike but the lions would immediately retaliate with Ben Poder taking a pitch from Ben Smith and scored on a 12 yd run. However, the aggressive tempo of the offense of the eagles proved to be too much for the lions. They would go on to defeat lions. Offensive stand outs were Joe Hansen, Cole Smith, Carson Denning, and Ben Poder. Defensive standouts were Wyndham Thompson, Jack Tebo, and Andre Johnson.
Last night the B Team Dowell Lion Boys played the Prosper Reynolds Eagles at Mckinney Boyd High School. The B Team WON the contest 16- 0. The defense would hold the eagle offense with a couple of stops with sacks coming from Ke'maur Johnson. Finally, in the 2nd quarter a fumble caused by Hudson Boring would be recovered by Parker Lake in the end zone giving Lake the first TD for the lions. Next touchdown would be made Ke'maur Johnson with both PATs being made by Carson Burden. The lions would shut end up shutting the eagles for the win. Defensive stand outs were walker white, Ke'maur johnson, and Jensen Cruse. Great job lions!

Dowell Middle School v. Faubion Middle School
The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played a tough round of games against Faubion Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 20th.
The Blue “B” team lost in a hard-fought 3 set match with scores of 12-25, 25-14 and 22-25. Mallory Hugghins dominated at the service line once again with a 6-point serving streak in games 2 AND 3, racking up 4 aces along the way. Landry Hugghins and Zoe McKay also had 2 aces each throughout the night. Kelsey Drake and Montserrat Donadio made several smart moves defensively to keep the ball in play. Although they didn’t come away with the “W” our Blue squad showed a lot of heart!
The Gold “A” team also had a tough 3 set loss with scores of 17-25, 25-18 and 25-13. Sophia Ricci really stepped up for her team and rocked the service line with an impressive 7 serve streak in game 2 that included 5 aces! Sydney Visser had 4 kills from the front row and Reagan Brown contributed 2 kills at the net and 1 back-row. Way to fight ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their game in 2 sets with scores of 18-25 and 13-25. Hailey Millwee and Qua Mathis each went on a 5-point serving streak in game 1 with 2 aces each. Defensively, Emma Demouy and Alivia Rowe had several great defensive passes while KK Washerlesky had 2 tip kills at the net. We’ll get them next time!
It was a tough week for the Lady Lionettes but they are working hard and will come back stronger Thursday, Sept. 27th, when they face Johnson Middle School for their next away game. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th grade volleyball had their Blue team tournament this weekend at Johnson Middle School where they went undefeated. They won 8 sets straight defeating Pioneer, Faubion, Evans, and Johnson middle school. Way to go Lionettes!
Our next game will be at home this Thursday against Faubion Middle School. We hope to see you there!

Dowell Middle School 7th grade played Prosper Reynolds last night bringing back one victory and two close losses.
Our Blue team lost in 3 close sets with scores of 25-18, 20-25, and 23-25. Melanie Cates led the backrow with 18 digs while Amory Dudek was strong on the service line. Kate Miller added some excitement with 2 BIG blocks! Way to fight Blue Team!
Gold team had a great WIN with scores being 25-7 and 25-12. Mallory Cormier was strong on the front row with 4 kills and Allie Stephenson had a great serving run to help us keep the lead.
White team lost in 3 with scores of 17-25, 26-24, and 21-25. Kailey Kackley led the backrow with 16 digs while Macie Whiddon had two kills on the front row. On the service line, Riley Rogers led the team with 14 serves over and in.
Way to go Lionettes!
Blue team has a tournament at Johnson Middle School this weekend, and all teams will have a home game next Thursday, September 20th against Faubion Middle School. Come and support!

The Dowell Lionettes 8th grade volleyball teams played Prosper Reynolds Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 13th taking 2 out of the 3 matches!
The Blue “B” team won in two games with scores of 25-13 and 25-11. Outstanding servers of the game were Mallory Hugghins and Cambri Stone with 3 Aces each. Landry Hugghins, Kelsey Drake and Sophie Habrat each had 2 kills on offense, and Libero Jacqueline Cape killed it on defense! The Blue squad is 2 for 2 so far this season and will compete this weekend in the MISD Invitational Tournament at Cockrill Middle School.
The Gold “A” team took down Reynolds in two games with scores of 27-25 and 25-21. Maddie Strock, Finley Turrentine and Sydney Visser each had 3 aces from behind the service line, and Reagan Brown also contributed 3 aces accompanied by 4 big kills at the net. Holland Hannon had an amazing game on the net with 4 kills and she and Kyanna Creecy had 2 monster blocks each.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team lost their game in 2 with scores of 18-25 and 23-25! Sophia Sherman, Emma Demouy and Hailey Millwee all contributed 2 aces from behind the service line. Qua Mathis and Millwee each had 2 kills at the net. Defensive Specialist Alivia Rowe had a great night on defense keeping the ball off the floor, and Hailey Millwee and Lindsey O’Harah did an awesome job stepping into their new roles as setters for their team.
We continue to be amazed by our Lady Lionettes’ constant progress and dedication on the court. Our next game is at AWAY next Thursday, Sept. 20th, against Faubion Middle School One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!
